Are your students developing creative, exciting curriculum-based multimedia, desktop publishing, computer programming/animation projects? If so, get involved with the VSTE STIC and let your students be recognized for their work at the VSTE Annual Conference! We are hoping for our best response ever…we know you are integrating technology in unique educational ways so take the opportunity to share with others and be entered for some great prizes! These do not have to be over the top entries; just ideas that others would find useful and maybe would want to try with their own students.
Student winners and their sponsoring teacher from each grade level category will receive a prize that will be awarded at the VSTE conference during an afternoon ceremony on Sunday, December 7, 2014.
What is STIC?
STIC stands for Student Technology Integration Challenge. VSTE started this competition in 2011 to encourage teachers and students to share the great products they are creating using technology to support the standards of learning.
Who participates in STIC?
STIC is open to Virginia students in grades PK-12. Sponsoring teachers must be VSTE members (remember that membership in VSTE is free). Competition levels are divided PK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. This year sponsoring teachers may submit only 1 product per STIC Category (Animation/Interactive, Desktop Publishing, Multi-media).
What STIC projects/products can be submitted?
This year the categories will include: desktop publishing, multi-media, and computer programming/animation. Details regarding compatibility (for judging purposes) are given on the contest information form.
Who are the judges?
All judges are VSTE members and include several VSTE board members, teachers and administrators from across Virginia.
What is the criterion for STIC products?
A rubric has been created for participants to download and use as a reference to ensure their product matches the judging criteria.
Where do I start?
First download the contest information and corresponding rubric for the category you would like to enter and read over this information. Then review the entry form and when you are ready to participate, submit your entries! All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
